If these things come in threes, I'm getting worried
Last night, as I was relaxing in a bath, Claire came in to let me know I was to call Mastercard Security, urgently. This is not a very good sign. So after I called, and waited for quite a while on hold, I talked to the security representative. It seems that there were a couple of purchases on my account that day that raised some flags for them. These were a purchase of about $30 at asiachi.com, and airline tickets to Italy. Not surprise anyone, but I'm not going to Italy anytime soon. It seems that my account had somehow been hacked. Those were the only bad purchases, and Mastercard has absolved me of any responsibility for these purchases. The question becomes, how did whoever had my info, get it? I still have my card, and my only purchases recently were Ticketmaster and Chapters, both online (so if you bought from them, check your account). Either those sites got hacked, or BMO Mastercard did. I'm inclined to think it was BMO, because there isn't anything necessarily out of place in the purchases. I've bought from other online sources, and bought many airline tickets. I think they knew someone got in, and that my number was compromised, so they had the flags at the ready. I'll be keeping my eye on the news to see if anything goes public.
Today I took my car in for regular maintenance. This was supposed to be done last week, but the time it was going to take was longer than we expected, so we had to reschedule. That's leads us to this morning, where I have an appointment for 9:00, for a three hour job. Claire and I drop off the car, then take the bus to the mall to pick up some things. By 12:30, we've still not heard anything from the shop, but we head back anyway. Arriving at 1:00 (four hours after the car was dropped off), we talk to the service manager, and it seems that according to their schedule, I wasn't expecting my car back until 4:00. That makes no sense to me, since I left it there at 9. They hadn't even started doing the work. That actually turned, somewhat, into a lucky circumstance, since I could then take my car home now, without disrupting the work. I have another appointment for next week, 8:00. It is in my file that the work is to be done before 10:00. I've also been given a free oil change in the future. So at least they're trying to do right by me. I'm frustrated, but in about a half-hour I get on the bike, so I'll work things out there.
How has your day been?
